International Summer Institute: Applications open for the May 2026 week-long summer programme at the University of West Indies, Barbados

Dear all,

We are very pleased to announce the 2026 International Summer Institute which is to be held at the University of West Indies Cave Hill campus in Barbados the last week of May 2026, in collaboration with the University of Leicester and University of Alberta. Details are available at this link: https://le.ac.uk/cssah/uwi-summer-school

This is the sixth occasion we are offering a  week-long intensive programme with an emphasis on both academic and professional development. It is aimed at postgraduate research students and early career researchers based in the UK, the Caribbean, Canada – and beyond – with an interest in global studies and a background in any discipline across the arts, humanities and social sciences, and we encourage applicants with a diverse range of interests.

This is a great opportunity to visit the University of West Indies Cave Hill campus, located next to the Caribbean sea in southern Barbados. The dates are 25 to 30 May 2026 and the theme is Intangible Heritages, Sacred Spaces. The programme will include seminars, lectures, workshops and fieldtrips that relate to this overarching theme and a series of subthemes outlined on the webpage https://le.ac.uk/cssah/uwi-summer-school. There will also be an opportunity to present a paper on your own research at the Researcher Conference, which will be scheduled on one of the days during the Summer Institute.

The application deadline is 5 January 2026. The webpage contains a link to an online application form. For more information, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
