Robarts Summer Institute and Summer School

The Robarts Centre is hosting two week-long events dedicated to students. The first, from June 16 to 20, 2025, is an online Summer Institute for undergraduate and graduate students focused on decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEDI) in higher education. The program will feature expert talks and hands-on workshops. Specialized lectures will cover topics such as implementing DEDI in academe, DEDI pedagogies, and cultural humility. Workshops will address using AI in research and writing, exploring data analysis methods, and publishing practices in the humanities and social sciences. Confirmed speakers include Nadia Hasan of York’s School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, Johanne Jean-Pierre of Sociology at York, Robin Sutherland-Harris and Dr. Ameera Ali of York’s Teaching Commons, Rémi Vives of Glendon, and Patricia Ki, Executive Director of Toronto Art Therapy Institute. The second event is the 2025 Critical Canadian Studies Summer School, held in person at Glendon campus from June 23 to 27, 2025. Titled “Studying Canada Responsibly,” it will bring together doctoral students from outside Canada and from York in a week-long series of talks, workshops, and informal discussions. The Summer School is held by the SSHRC-funded CANSearch project, hosted at the Robarts Centre.
