AFRICAN NOVA SCOTIAN YOUNG LEADERS POSTER
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The African Nova Scotian Young Leaders Poster Initiative is relaunching. We are inviting communities across Nova Scotia to nominate outstanding young Black leaders who are making meaningful contributions within their communities in Nova Scotia.
This initiative recognizes emerging African Nova Scotian leaders whose work reflects strength, resilience, innovation, and leadership. Selected individuals will be featured on the African Nova Scotian Young Leaders Poster and highlighted across the province.
Self-nominations are also accepted.
ELIGIBILITY
Nominees must:
Be African Nova Scotian (a descendant of one of the historic 52 land-based African Nova Scotian communities, click here for a map)
Be between the ages of 19 and 35
Not have been featured on a previous Young Leaders Poster
Demonstrate active contributions to their communities
NOMINATION CATEGORIES
- Justice – Advocacy for equity, human rights, and social justice
- Education – Contributions to education, learning, mentorship, and youth development
- Creatives (Arts, Media, Social Media & Influencing) – Using creative expression and digital platforms to uplift community voices
- Sports – Leadership and impact through athletics and recreation
- Business / Entrepreneurship – Economic empowerment and innovation
- Community Service – Volunteerism and grassroots leadership
- Spirituality – Contributions to spiritual and cultural wellbeing
- Civic Engagement & Politics – Public leadership, advocacy, and civic participation
- STEM – Advancing science, technology, engineering, and math
- Health & Wellness – Promoting physical, mental, and community wellbeing
