The goal is to develop a series of posts that appear, ideally every other week, that address the current challenges of history in a transnational context. These may include, but are not confined to: similarities and differences to past moments of crisis; causes of the current crisis; book bans; denialism of evidence; commemorative practices that celebrate racism and colonial violence; erasure of topics/issues/groups; threats to research funding and academic freedom in the form of course closures and contract faculty precarity; among others.
The aim is to consider both the nature of the challenges history confronts and stories that highlight the positive role history can play in culture and society. Each post would be approximately 1000 words in length – although this length can vary – and can include illustrations or another visual component.
