The Canadian Studies Network–Réseau d’études canadiennes is seeking to fill two positions on its Board of Directors: Graduate Student Representative and Secretary-Treasurer.

We practice as both a working and governance style Board. Each member is responsible for initiatives and actionable items, while as a collective, the Board serves a managerial role. New members would join this collaborative collective. Fundamentally, we are seeking individuals who are passionate about the study of Canada, who have available time to commit, and who are excited to help shape the Network’s future.

Details about each role include:

Secretary-Treasurer:

-          Attend monthly Board meetings

-          Oversee the Network’s finances and assist with expense payments

-          Communicate with the Network’s accountant and help assemble documentation for annual tax return (this is largely administrative; no accounting background is necessary)

-          Participate in and help facilitate the Network’s events, operations, awards, and new initiatives

Graduate Student Representative:

-          Attend monthly Board meetings

-          Represent graduate students engaged in the study of Canada

-          Assist in expanding the Network’s visibility among graduate students engaged in the study of Canada

-          Participate in and help facilitate the Network’s events, operations, awards, and new initiatives. We are especially interested in someone who might help implement and maintain a social media presence for the Network

For more information, see the Network’s Mission Statement and website.
