Upcoming workshop for new faculty writers (and those who train them)

Hi everyone,

If you are in a new academic position or supervise doctoral students who have graduated, we are offering an upcoming workshop on making the transition from writing as a dissertation student with a one-time large project to an academic who produces multiple projects over the course of a career.

“From Dissertation Writer to Faculty Writer” is useful for faculty seeking to learn strategies to write and research as a regular part of an academic position by setting up research and writing rhythms to complete scholarly work. This workshop is also useful for those who provide faculty development to new academics.

June 29 – online – 12-3 pm EST (recording will be sent to participants who don’t attend live).

This workshop will focus on three key areas (as well as digital tools and resources to support all three)

1) Setting up a writing and research management system to know specifically what to work on each week, when projects are due, progress on each project, how to track research impact, and where to capture new ideas.

2) Establishing research and academic reading strategies, to read and research in weekly or bi-weekly rhythm with the goal of moving from reading/researching to writing.

3) Writing techniques for faculty writing situations: How to start, what to do when stuck or when momentum is lost, how to write in the “middle” of a project versus starting at the beginning, getting writing completed when your schedule gets too busy, efficient collaboration, and more.

For $60 USD participants receive workshop templates, the workshop recording, and unlimited access to our members-only online writing group sessions throughout the summer.

Registrants will receive a Zoom link 48 hours prior to the workshop, and a recording will be sent for those who register but do not attend live.
