Hi !

Call for ethnographic film submissions is now open until October 31, 2021 on https://filmfreeway.com/FIFEQ !

The FIFEQ is the only Canadian film festival devoted exclusively to ethnographic cinema. It aims to promote and demystify visual anthropology for the general public.

For the past 18 years, in both Montreal and Quebec City, the Festival has gathered several thousand viewers who share a common passion for cinema, visual anthropology, or simply the curiosity to discover more about the world. Over seven days, the Festival screens bold and thought-provoking ethnographic films from around the world. These films speak to different subjects and employ different filmmaking choices and techniques, but all are united by a common project: using image and sound as tools to better observe and understand the world around us.

Alongside new and experimental films, retrospectives of classics in ethnographic cinema will be screenedーa testimony to the historical richness of the genre. In addition to screenings, the Festival offers masterclasses, debates, and Q&A sessions with filmmakers.

Best regards,
